Paintings
Amber's painting blends a penchant for texture and expressive brushwork, often exploring natural subject matter to create intuitive dreamscapes or nods to affirmations learnt from nature. Her current 'stacks' series looks playfully at the teetering balance of daily life using recognisable organic motifs at different scales. They have always been very oriented by colour and using natural pigments often means a limited palette although rich jewel-like and pigments with interesting gritty or powdery textures. Amber uses her extensive experience to achieve interesting contrast and colour play with their pairings. These pieces truly have a different presence in person, where you can see the texture and depth of the natural pigments in the light.
